Meet the Candidates

Will Moore

Will Moore
Presidential Candidate
Will is an Urban and Regional Planning major and Sustainability Studies Minor who sees a future where Texas State students have a say in the important decisions that affect their well-being and ability to thrive. Will aims to listen to students and use his capacity as president to speak and act on behalf of all, not a select few. A proven leader, he will place the needs of students above all, always prioritizing equity, safety, and sustainability.

Will currently works at the Institute for Government Innovation, a research center on campus. Here he helps Travis County conduct a climate vulnerability assessment of its facilities and services. He also serves on the San Marcos Zoning Board of Adjustments, and is actively involved in the Student Urban Planning Organization.

Will plans to conduct extensive outreach to a diverse range of student organizations, to hear new perspectives that are historically underrepresented in Student Government, and to find qualified candidates to serve on his cabinet.

Olivia Alexander

Olivia Alexander
Presidential Candidate

Olivia is a junior from Houston, Texas majoring in Political Science. In addition to being a full-time student, she is also involved in local and state politics. She just recently wrapped up her first legislative session where she served as Legislative Aide for State Senator Bryan Hughes. Her youngest sister Evie was recently accepted into Texas State, so she officially has an all-Bobcat Family.

Nicole Collins

Nicole Collins
Presidential Candidate

Having served as a senator for a year, Nicole Collins has the experience necessary to serve as your next Student Body President. A junior studying criminal justice minoring in business administration, Collins wants to pursue a career in law enforcement after graduation. As the Committee Chair for Health and safety, she implements these passions by sponsoring and assisting in drafting legislation that aims to increase safety and wellness on campus, such as the resolution calling for increased safety in residence halls and the resolution calling for the reprioritization of athletic success after decisions were made regarding the football team endangered students. Creating a campaign prioritizing student health, safety, and inclusivity among students, Collins wants to strengthen relationships with UPD and make healthcare more accessible by increasing the amount of insurance providers accepted through the Student Health Center to expand health resources. She is extremely passionate about improving mental healthcare accessibility as well, wanting to budget for an additional therapy dog on campus.

Antonio Romo

Antonio Romo
Vice Presidential Candidate

Antonio Romo, a junior majoring in political science and minoring in psychology, is extremely dedicated to increasing a sense of community on campus through increasing school spirit by hosting more events and mingling opportunities for students. Having two jobs in addition to serving as a student government senator, he is no stranger to hard work. Antonio Romo is passionate about protecting health on campus, especially regarding drug-related injuries, having experienced the loss of a friend who passed away due to fentanyl. By providing free resources to students such as free drug testing kits, and expanding the availability and execution of NARCAN, he hopes to significantly reduce the amount of overdoses on and off campus. Romo is passionate about decreasing sexual assault crimes as well, wanting to provide free RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) courses in collaboration with UPD to students.

Donavan Brown

Donavan Brown
Vice Presidential Candidate

Donavan is a sophomore from Bandera, Texas majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science. When he isn’t busy studying, you can find him spending time with his fraternity, Beta Upsilon Chi, diving into the word and worship as a College YoungLife Leader, or scheduling meetings to create partnerships and sponsorships between Student Government and other departments or organizations. Donavan is currently looking into his summer plans, deciding between a summer engineering internship or serving as a Camp Counselor at Pine Cove.

CAMPAIGN AGENDA
My campaign agenda is to give the student body a real platform for voicing their opinions and sharing ideas with the student government and governing bodies. In my opinion this is the area of Texas State that requires the most improvement and could make an incredible difference for the students and the university. I feel as though many members of student government, after being elected, assume and guess what the student body wants and needs but I want to change that. My plan is to give the people a platform. The role of the Texas State student government is to accurately represent and speak for the needs and wants of the student body as a whole. Due to Texas State's student body being so diverse I would represent these diverse needs by doing my best to listen and put myself in the shoes of these other students. Rather than falsely representing the diverse student population by guessing what they want, I believe a platform for students to talk to each other and representatives would be very beneficial. Because I want to represent my fellow students in the best way possible and bring new opportunities for their voice to be heard, I believe that makes me an excellent candidate.

CAMPAIGN AGENDA
My campaign agenda is a bold and visionary plan to improve the lives of students. By enhancing the engagement of bobcats, I will create a more dynamic and inclusive environment that encourages learning and growth. Additionally, my efforts to improve the advertising of student services will ensure that every student has access to the resources they need to succeed. As part of Texas State's efforts to contribute to the San Marcos community, I plan to continue our involvement in various community initiatives. Additionally, I aim to create more employment opportunities on campus specifically tailored for students who are interested in work-study programs. I believe that my commitment to the community and student development will have a positive impact on both the university and the San Marcos community as a whole.

CAMPAIGN AGENDA
My agenda for Texas State is making it a healthy and productive community through in and through out. Doing more as a community and being able to bring others out of their shell who haven’t gotten to experience the full engagement of college, for students to understand TXST is safe and willing to do more all around. As someone who struggles with anxiety and getting out of my comfort zone this is something I would never fill out or even look twice at doing and I want others to feel like they can get out of their shell and do things they would never expect to do, surprising themselves. I know a lot of people who are struggling to make friends and put themselves out there as I am one of them I want to be able to go to students and help them to know they’re not alone and reach out.
